Meet Ted

Ted’s philosophy is that good business attorneys do not slow down or impede business deals – they get them DONE.

Ted is an entrepreneur with an MBA in finance, an attorney and an author who relishes his role as counselor to fellow entrepreneurs, established companies and the investors who support them.

Ted’s driving belief is that entrepreneurs often need more than accomplished attorneys – the excitement and stress of conceiving a new venture demands sound business advice, shared passion, experienced leadership, and the empathy that only a fellow entrepreneur can provide. Ted listens to his clients, partners with them, understanding their business and their dreams. Even after the legal work is done, at the request of his client-friends, he often stays involved with their business, continually counseling the growing ventures.

After graduating from Vanderbilt University, Ted began his career as an entrepreneur, starting a political consulting firm that offered such services as campaign management, media creation & purchasing, and general strategy. After three years of advising challengers, incumbents and organizations, he realized how much he wanted to learn about the law and finance, so Ted sold his firm’s assets and entered Vanderbilt’s JD/MBA program.

Four years later, Ted began his legal career in New York with Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, a prominent firm founded in 1863 with sixteen offices in seven countries on three continents. While working in Orrick’s federal securities group, he advised companies and underwriters on the private and public offering of both equity and debt.

Ted serves as General Counsel for Icebreaker Entertainment, LLC, a multi-brand consumer products company with products for sale at Walmart, Kohl’s, Sear’s, and many other major retailers.  He and his wife are published co-authors and toured the nation in 2010 promoting their book.  Ted’s first novel, EAT WHAT YOU KILL, was published in hardcover by St. Martin’s in March 2014.  The trade paperback was released in May 2015.

Ted has been a guest speaker on venture capital and e-commerce at Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management and was a featured panelist at a New Venture Conference.  He appeared in BusinessWeek, has been interviewed on Radio Wall Street and has been quoted in many articles on both business and legal topics.
